The Society of Auricular Acupuncturists was founded over 30 years ago. It offered training in Auricular Acupuncture at a time when only reusable needles were available.
The Society's dedication to high standards of clinical practice led to the development of a variety of Protocols through the use of the electro-acupunctoscope in order to avoid the possible spread of infection. As the reputation for the Society's commitment to high standards of training spread, the Society was invited to deliver 5-point needle DETOX training for the Royal Bethlam Hospital and Leyhill Prison, by which time the disposable acupuncture needle had been developed, reducing any risk of infection.
The popularity and continued growth of the courses led to the development of The College of Auricular Acupuncture in 2002, the dedicated training provider for The Society of Auricular Acupuncturists, which continues to this day.
The College is dedicated to continual improvement in education and standards of practice through their levels of training leading to the Comprehensive Diploma in Auricular Acupuncture.
The College and Society are founder members of the Microsystems Acupuncture Regulatory Working Group (MARWG), which was set up to achieve voluntary self-regulation (VSR).
