OPEN COLLEGE NETWORK

The British College of Auricular Acupuncture is proud to announce that it is now a NOCN (National Open College Network) Approved Centre and its training courses are now being validated and accredited by the Open College Network South East Region (OCNSER). www.ocnser.org.uk Accreditation is the process of officially recognising a course as meeting required quality standards.

Why our courses are OCN accredited?

The Open College Network is a licensed Awarding Body that does not run courses, but works with Training Providers such as ourselves, that do. OCN accredited courses enjoy:

- formal recognition of successful achievement

- widened opportunities

- courses constructed in line with best practice learning and assessment methods

- credits that can build towards further qualifications, education or training

About OCN course credits

OCN courses are made up of units of achievement. Each unit (Module) has a credit value. As you proceed on each of our courses you build up credits.

- 1 credit = 10 notional hours of study – that is how long an average learner is likely to need to complete the work.

- Each unit (Module) is assigned a credit value, usually between 1 and 6, dependant on how much learning is required. (See below for the credit values of our Modules I, II and III).

This means you can easily build up credits and you can be awarded an OCN certificate for the units (Modules) you have completed. You can use your certificate as evidence of your achievement in job interviews or when applying to other educational or training courses.

Credit Levels

The Open College Network awards credits at different levels. These levels are agreed nationally within a national credit framework. The OCN is able to award credits at five levels from Entry to Level 4 (see below for our Modules’ credit levels).

For a description of credit levels and examples of comparable qualifications go to www.ocnser.org.uk

OCN Credit Levels for our Auricular Acupuncture training courses:

Module I Introduction to Auricular Acupuncture (Auricular Acupuncture Detoxification Practitioners Certificate)
3 Credits at Level 2

Module II Auricular Acupuncture Intermediate Practitioners Certificate
6 Credits at Level 3

Module III Auricular Electro-Acupuncture Practitioners Course
6 Credits at Level 3

Reflective Practitioners Development
3 Credits at Level 3

Certification of our Modules of training in Auricular Acupuncture

After you have applied and been accepted to attend one of our training courses you will be registered with us as a student member. We then register your name with the Open College Network. At the beginning of the Module it will be explained to you what you will need to achieve by the end of it. Your tutor will be continually assessing your progress throughout the duration of the Module in a variety of ways, both practically and written.

All students deemed to have achieved the goals of the Module will receive two certificates – one from the British College of Auricular Acupuncture and the other from the Open College Network. Both certificates will be sent to you from the B.C.Aur.Ac. as the local OCN office does not hold individual addresses.
