MODULE I – ENTRY LEVEL

AURICULAR ACUPUNCTURE DETOXIFICATION PRACTITIONER’S CERTIFICATE

Needled Ear

An Introduction to the Course

Description:

The course is designed as an introduction to Auricular Acupuncture. Individuals are taught the basic theory of Auricular Acupuncture with particular emphasis on the detoxification process.

On the practical side they learn how to locate and treat the five primary detoxification points using needles. This course is therefore useful if you wish to use Auricular Acupuncture to help substance misusers (i.e. drug and alcohol dependent people). It is also the first stage of the Comprehensive Diploma in Auricular Acupuncture.

Who is the Course for? (Entry Requirements)

The course is open to any individual, including complementary therapists, requiring an introduction to Auricular Acupuncture. It is particularly suitable for drug workers from the public and private sector and also members of the Public Health and Judiciary Sector who are interested in helping drug and alcohol addiction.

Guidance, resources and support are available for students with learning difficulties/disabilities and those in need of literacy support.

Resources available:

Reading notes are given to each student prior to the course commencing. There is an auricular acupuncture folder given to each student to study and refer to throughout the course. In addition there are many auricular acupuncture text books available in the College’s library to refer to. Rubber ears are used as a practical training tool.

Methods of Assessment and Accreditation:
(see OCN accreditation)

Throughout the course the tutors continually help students with regular, informal feedback on both the practical needling part of the course and the theory. All students are awarded the Auricular Acupuncture Detoxification Practitioners Certificate once they have passed the practical and theory assessments.

Course Duration:

The duration of the workshop course is four days.

Course Venue and Dates:

The next courses will be held on:

6th to 9th May 2008 Venue: Margate, Kent.
